ABOUT ME

WHO I AM

As a science writer, I’m dedicated to telling important stories by translating complex ideas into easily digestible formats for general audiences. My passion for writing and fervent curiosity led me to write as a 2024 AAAS Mass Media Fellow for El Nuevo Día in Puerto Rico where I reported on science and environment in Spanish. I’m committed to informing audiences about the rapidly changing world around them and engaging with marginalized voices to facilitate curiosity, engagement, conservation, and education.

The son of Latino-Canadian Parents, I was raised between Colorado and Peru. After graduating high school I attended the University of British Columbia where I attained a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Science with a focus on Neurobiology. While there, I worked in various labs as a research assistant and contributed to the science section of the school paper, the Ubyssey.

I’ve always felt incredibly interested in how animals perceive and are affected by their constantly changing natural environments. I believe that understanding anthropogenic changes to these environments and how they are affecting the world around us is crucial to informing our daily lives. In my work, I hope to engage with and support marginalized voices to ensure that solutions are informed by diverse perspectives.
